+ Love Your Neighbor

AT CHRIST CHURCH, WE BELIEVE THAT WE’RE ALL “ON MISSION,” ALL THE TIME. EACH DAILY INTERACTION IS A MISSION OPPORTUNITY.

SERVE

Small Team Projects

Funding is available for Christ’s Small Groups and Sunday School Classes to initiate mission related projects in their community by simply nominating their project through CHRISTmissions. Each project will be supported by up to $400.

Crestview Volunteers

Christ Members volunteer in several different ways at Crestview Retirement Community in Bryan, Texas. Christ volunteers help in their food pantry, socialize with the residents and participate in several activities.

James 1:27

Often, Christ Members are in need of home repairs or small tasks at their home. Members of the James 1:27 Projects Team are available to address these needs as requested. Members are listed on an email distribution list and notified of a need for help.

Kairos Prison MINISTRY

The mission of Kairos Prison Ministry is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women, youth, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of their communities. As a Kairos volunteer you can spread the Gospel to some of God’s people searching for help and guidance.

Church Has Left the Building

Once a year, on a Sunday morning, Christ Church leaves the building and goes into the community to serve others. Projects include visiting retirement home residents, serving meals on the Meals on Wheels routes, completing minor home repair projects, constructing wheelchair ramps, thanking the emergency response and health care workers and more … all in the name of Jesus Christ.

Meals on Wheels

Christ Members support the local Meals on Wheels organization by regularly delivering meals on one of many weekday meal routes. Members will work in pairs to deliver the meals but most importantly to visit with the elderly residents receiving the meals.

Family Promise

Christ Church supports Family Promise, an organization that helps families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Christ Members provide meals and support for Family Promise.

Walk to Emmaus

A Walk to Emmaus support group exists at Christ Church for both men and women. Christ Members that have previously attended Walk to Emmaus can feel free to participate in the existing accountability groups or twice-a-year Emmaus Walks in April and October.

BUILD

Church in Action

Church In Action is a mission initiative to address the needs of others in our community. A variety of projects can be completed as a CIA Project, some of them include building a much needed wheelchair ramp, repairing broken windows, helping to install a handicap shower for a wheelchair bound resident, repair siding on a home, etc. Projects occur during the month and members are always welcome to join the work.

Mobility Worldwide

Christ Members serve at Mobility Worldwide, a local faith based, volunteer-powered, world-wide organization in Bryan, Texas that builds three-wheeled, hand cranked Mobility Carts. These vehicles allow them to go where ordinary wheelchairs won’t go and are provided at no cost to the recipient.

God Size Project

Once a year, Christ Church undertakes a single project that clearly proclaims this is the work of God. Christ Members come together to renovate or build a new home for a homeowner that lives in a home considered dilapidated. Christ Members help with construction, paint, install trim, lay flooring or simply serve meals to those that are working. And Christ Members often offer the services of their own companies as needed.

Hands Team

Join the team of over 100 Christ Members that want to be advised of any Mission related project that will be taking place, with the chance of being available to help! Each Hands Team notice will provide information on the scheduled work, time, place and project duration.

Art from the Heart

Talented Christ Members come together each week to share their gift of art to those who need that special touch. Whether it is a decorated gift bag, a special card or a memorable picture … the art produced by these members is remarkable.

Community Clothes Closet

Christ Members can donate their slightly used clothes and housewares to the Community Clothes Closet. Periodically, a “free” clothes distribution is held with the various groups in the community that Christ supports.

Kidz Christmas

Each year, funds are raised to provide almost 300 local Kidz a $125 shopping spree at the local Target stores. Christ Members accompany the Kidz to help the family select clothes and a toy. Afterwards, everyone comes to the church for a Pancake Breakfast and show these Kidz the reason for the season.

Project Hope

Every 1st and 3rd Thursday, the Brazos Valley Food Bank delivers food where Christ members sort and distribute it to low-income families. All of this is done on our Christ campus. Volunteers are always welcome!

Preston’s Provisions

Preston’s Provisions exist to provide home furnishings and furniture to homeowners in need of these items, at no cost to the homeowner. All previously owned items are kindly donated by Christ members.
