Christ UMC is one of the churches in Bryan/College Station area assisting Family Promise, an area-wide, volunteer-based, non-profit that supports homeless families. This safe environment enables families to get back onto their feet and become self-sufficient. It takes 50-75 volunteers to make the week go smoothly. 

Every 10-12 weeks, host congregations assist three to five families for one week from 5:00 pm-7:00 am.

Volunteers Help:

• Serve breakfast and dinner
• Prepare sack lunches
• Tutor
• Offer companionship after dinner
• Stay overnight as a host (one male and one female)
• Transport to and from the day facility (during the day, the families remain at the facility where the network director assists them in finding housing, jobs or job training).

We provide evening meals Sunday-Thursday and sometimes food to make meals Friday and Saturday. Evening hosts 5:30-8:30 pm each evening. Overnight hosts 8:30 pm-7:00 am each night.
